PPD SUPPORT GROUPS AND SERVICES

******Champaign, IL: PREGNANCY AND POSTPARTUM SUPPORT GROUP

Where: Family Service, 405 S. State St., Champaign
Who: Women 18+, who are pregnant or have had baby within the last year
When: Mondays, 5:45pm-6:45pm - First session: April 7th, 2008 OR
Wednesdays, 1:00pm-2:00pm - First session: April 9th, 2008

Women are Welcome to Attend at any point - Feel free to join the group even if it has been going on for a while. We are here for you and your family!
Groups will meet first and third Monday evening and first and third Wednesday afternoon. Women may attend one of the two days of the week. Group will address Postpartum depression.

"Parenthesis Parent Child Center in Oak Park is offering a free support group for women struggling with issues of postpartum depression. Groups are opento residents of Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, and surroundingcommunities, and will run for seven- week sessions. There is no fee, andchildcare is available. Topics covered will include:-the myths and challenges of adjusting to motherhood-overcoming negative thought patterns-the role of medication in treatment-creating and finding support networks-self care techniques-skill building for the future In addition to the group format, home visits with case management servicescan also be provided to residents of Oak Park, River Forest, and ForestPark, for assessment/screening.

 ****** ALEXIAN BROTHERS PREGNANCY & POSTPARTUM MOOD & ANXIETY DISORDER PROGRAMWe have a unique, comprehensive multi disciplinary program for Alexian Brothers Medical Center, St. Alexius Medical Center, and Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital providing prevention and wellness programming, screening and a support group geared to meet the needs of women  experiencing a pregnancy or postpartum mood disorder. This is a Model Program that begins prenatally with prevention and screening for women at 24 weeks gestation.  It is an innovative program connecting Behavioral Health and Obstetrics Services.Specifics of the Program:Support Group: offered through the hospital three times a month for women who are suffering with a pregnancy or postpartum mood disorder.Father's Group:  Father's are invited to attend SPECIFIC GROUPS.  This group offers support as well as education regarding postpartum depression and anxiety disorders.  The group encourages and nurtures realistic expectations of parenthood to aid in the development of their new role. Education regarding postpartum depression is offered to the patients and families during their hospital stay and after discharge. Outpatient consultations and evaluations for psycho-education and referrals are made to mental health professionals. Collaboration with various community agencies, Lactation Consultants, Home Health Nurses, Behavioral Health professionals, EAPs, Marketing departments, physicians, and nurses is an essential part of the success of this model program. In addition to the above information a Respite Program providing day and night care of both mother and baby is available to women who are part of our Program. We are pleased to announce that our Program has been expanded to include a Spanish speaking PPD Model.
