- Perinatal Mood Disorders Awareness Month - The Illinois PPD Alliance has worked with Illinois Governors for the last 8 years in order to get May proclaimed Perinatal Mood Disorders Awareness Month in Illinois.
- The Mother’s Act - The Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act legislation sponsored by U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) to combat postpartum depression became law as part of landmark health insurance reform that passed Congress on March 21.
- Illinois Senate Bill 15 - In 2007 Senate Bill 15 created the Postpartum Mood Disorders Prevention Act. It became law in 2008. It calls for early screening of postpartum depression by front-line health workers such as pediatricians, primary care doctors, nurse practitioners and obstetricians.
